Mirtazapine

• block 5-HT2 and α2 receptors.
• It is a sedative because of its potent antihistaminic activity, but it does not cause the antimuscarinic side effects of the TCAs, or interfere with sexual functioning, as do the SSRls. Increased appetite and weight gain frequently occur.
• 見atypical antidepressant。治療效果並不會比typical antidepressant好，但是由於和typical one有不同的副作用，所以若不習慣typical one的副作用可以改用atypical one
• bupropion和mirtazapine可以代替typical one的TCA和SSRI，因為沒有造成性功能障礙的副作用
